Dr Anahita Malek

Dr Malek is a subject expert in Events, Sport, Tourism and Hospitality management. She is a senior academic with over 17 years of international experience.

She has organised international conferences and workshops in Malaysia, Singapore,Thailand and Indonesia and was the project officer of one of the biggest tourism and sustainability research centres in Malaysia, responsible for projects, partnerships, stakeholder engagement and community development.

Anahita received her MA and PhD in Tourism and Events Management from Universiti Sains Malaysia before taking a position as a  Postdoctoral Researcher under the Portuguese Foundation for Science and Technology’s research initiatives at the University of Aveiro. Dr Malek’s doctoral dissertation, “International Conference Attendees’ Participation Behaviour” examines factors that could contribute to conference attendees’ behaviour.

She is also a fellow of the HE Academy.
